Seniors 

           We Americans are living longer than any time in recent history. As a result, seniors are the fastest growing age group in our population.  There is a misconception in our society that after a certain age you should slow down and accept that some things are just for the “young”.  This is a self-fulfilling prescription.  If you don’t want to be able to do certain things as you age, simply stop dong them, and soon the muscles and joints will grow weak and that activity will be out of reach. The message of Myers Total Fitness is the simple truth that a long healthy life is possible for everyone, no matter what age.  It has been proven in studies and in personal experience of people we have worked with that there is no age limit for gains in strength, balance, flexibility, and cardiovascular health. The difference in exercise as you get older is that you must play by the rules.  Proper form and technique are vital. This is why it is important to work with a qualified fitness instructor that is sensitive to the needs of older adults.

Senior Strength Training

It is very important for seniors to be able to keep an active lifestyle, and it is a fact that people well over 60 can maintain and gain muscle strength when involved in resistance training. Our senior strength training classes are designed specifically for this purpose. We use resistance bands and light weights in a controlled environment where every participant can know they are getting a good workout with out risking their safety. *Standing or seated*

Senior Aerobics

This is a low-impact aerobic class designed for seniors. Staying active as you get older is vital to maitain joint movement, balance, energy, and even a health heart. The exercises in this class can be performed seated or standing, and will help keep you going strong.

We enjoy getting people active in any way possible, and often the first step is educating and inspiring. We have put together an upbeat presentation about senior fitness that will leave everyone feeling impowered about their own health. We fill the presentation with medical studies that prove fitness works, exercise demonstrations that everyone can do, and real-life success stories of other seniors that are doing-it-all through fitness.
